Traditional springs are coil springs used in a mattress. Coils are primarily used in the core (support layer) of innerspring mattresses, which is their original use.

Although traditional beds are easy on the wallet, they are typically harder on your back!

Traditional spring mattresses may seem comfortable at first. Especially when you lay on them in the store just a few minutes before you purchase it. Nice pillow-tops, quilting, Euro tops and big names should NEVER be a deciding factor in your investment. Traditional mattresses don’t normally offer sufficient pressure point relief. See pressure map above.
As you can see the person lying down on a spring mattress isn’t getting the relief in the KEY pressure point areas. The red indicates high stress points that equate to the pain in the shoulder and hips when you wake up in the morning. Arms and legs that are not properly supported can cause a condition that is commonly called “Asleep” due to the lack of blood circulation. Those issues can make a person toss and turn all night keeping them from achieving the much needed REM sleep stage.
Traditional spring mattresses push back against your body. High pressure areas such as hips and shoulders can cause nearly 40% of the mattress to depress toward the highest pressure point. This causes misalignment of the spine and makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the extremities. So the bed may feel perfect to you at first but you are still waking up with a back ache for an unknown reason. Now you know!
These pressure points lead to poor blood circulation, tossing and turning, aches and joint pain. This is not the definition of a good night’s sleep!
Traditional sring mattresses lose close to 20% of their support in the 1st year alone.
